Health Advantage Credit Union Announces $75,000 Grant to Covenant HealthCare
Saginaw, MI – Health Advantage Credit Union is proud to announce it awarded $75,000 in Community Multiplier grant funds to Covenant HealthCare via the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis’ Community Multiplier – Member Match program.
Community Multiplier – Member Match is a matching grant program available to financial institution members of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBank Indianapolis). The program offers grants of up to $60,000 each with a minimum 25% matching commitment from the member financial institution to target specific affordable housing initiatives.
The grant will support Walk to Work, part of Covenant HealthCare’s Extraordinary Neighbors Program. The program provides eligible Covenant employees with down payment and renovation assistance for homes within walking distance of its main campus in Saginaw.
“Owning a home is a milestone that reflects hard work, planning and hopes for the future,” said Laura Crase, President & CEO of Health Advantage Credit Union. “Helping the people that care for others reach that milestone is an important part of what we do. The Community Multiplier award builds on that commitment, allowing us to make a meaningful investment in affordable housing alongside Covenant HealthCare and Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity. We believe the value of these dollars will be felt in our community long after the funds have been awarded.”
“Covenant HealthCare is grateful for the support and partnership of Health Advantage Credit Union,” said Dylan Hellus, Neighborhood Engagement Specialist at Covenant HealthCare. “With these funds we can continue growing our Extraordinary Neighbors Program, making housing attainable for residents and revitalizing the Covenant Neighborhood.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Health Advantage Credit Union for their investment in the Walk to Work program and to Covenant HealthCare for their continued partnership,” said Abbegail Stemple, Executive Director of Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity. “This program does more than help families purchase homes. It creates opportunities for long-term financial stability, strengthens our local workforce, and helps families establish lasting roots in our community. Partnerships like these demonstrate what is possible when organizations come together to make homeownership more accessible.”
Walk to Work participants also receive financial education through Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity. This guidance helps them prepare for the financial responsibilities of owning a home.
